October 2, 2019 At Piet Vijverberg, innovation is in the DNA.
The company that grows the highest quality Phalaenopsis and Dracaena is always looking for new ways to further improve quality through technology. The next big step has now been taken, last week the LED lights above the Phalaenopsis plants were switched on. This allows the company to use about 60% more light on top of the regular grow light, which offers many advantages.
First Phalaenopsis grower with LED on a large scale
This makes the company the first Phalaenopsis grower to use LED light on such a large scale. The starting point here is very clear; the desire to be able to offer the same consistent top quality to customers, all year round. Advantages; increase quality, reliability and more.
The use of LED lights has the advantage that the same light level can be achieved in winter as in summer, which ensures a better quality of the plant. In addition, adjustments can now also be made in summer time with more light on dark days.
The LED light is more efficient than normal light. It has hardly any radiant heat, which means that the climate in the greenhouse is optimal. The crop does not need the extra heat in that cultivation phase. The use of LED lights results in an increasing number of light hours without changing the climate in the greenhouse.
The combination of SON-T light and LED light offers more options in controlling the cultivation, which means that the company can produce in a more systematic and even more reliable manner. With LED lights one can also switch faster, because it reacts very quickly. The production process is more flexible because it is more manageable. In addition, it is sustainable, which the company values a lot. Significantly less power is consumed.
