On Monday 12 August, the Tour de France Femmes passed right through the Westland and passed our nursery. It was a unique opportunity to put the Westland’s ornamental horticulture sector on the world map.

The Tour de France Femmes is a large-scale event that started in the Netherlands this year, with the Grand Départ in Rotterdam. The first stage took the cyclists via Westland to the finish line in Kijkduin (The Hague). On Sunday 18 August, the Tour ends with a historic final stage to Alpe d’Huez. In total, over 154 cyclists, divided into 22 teams, will take part, covering a total of 949.7 kilometres and climbing 10,700 altimeters in eight stages.

France is one of our main markets for our Star Quality By5 Phalaenopsis, which made it extra special that the Tour de France Femmes passed through our region. With the presence of 1,000 journalists and media coverage in 190 countries, the event provided an excellent opportunity to highlight both our products and our region. Westland, known as the cradle of ornamental horticulture, thus had the opportunity to show its qualities and innovative strength to the world.

Ode to HERoes!

Together with our staff, we lined the road by our nursery to cheer on the top sportswomen. With our Star Quality By5 Phalaenopsis Alassio, Lime Light, Volterra, and the Dracaena Yellow Coast in the iconic yellow colour, we showed our support. Our banners, with encouraging texts, shined in the curves around the nursery and created a special moment of connection between sports and floriculture.

In addition, the floriculture sector collectively created an impressive mosaic of plants and flowers especially for the Tour de France Femmes. This work of art is a tribute to female cyclists who have only been officially allowed to participate in the sport since 1930 and reminds us of the achievements of Mien van Bree, the first female world champion in 1938. In doing so, we celebrate the advancement of women in cycling and put Dutch ornamental cycling in the global spotlight.

The post Increase sales at wholesale markets and Cash & Carry’s with our By5 display.. Thé eyecatcher for your customer. appeared first on Piet Vijverberg.

Kwekerij Piet Vijverberg is 75 years old and on this occasion a brand new display has been made . It is one of the festive activities on the agenda. Five years ago, with the 70th anniversary, the house style was renewed, and the nursery was expanded with new construction. Now Piet Vijverberg wants to create experience in wholesale markets in Europe together with his customers.

The display will be introduced during the first edition of the Flower Bazar fair. The display has been developed to draw extra attention to the quality products supplied by the nursery. Exporters can order the display free of charge and have it transported together with orders. Sufficient copies will be available. The fair will take place from 15 to 17 September in FloriWorld Aalsmeer (NL) during the introduction of this new fair.

Flower Bazar is a fair in a new format; visitors will be received in an environment that gives them the feeling of being in a luxury pop-up boutique. Piet Vijverberg can be found in stand no. 6, on the ground floor. The new display, filled with a variety of plants, can be admired here.

On one side of the display is a folder holder in which different folders can be placed. It is a modular display that can be easily supplied with the plants. Requests can be made on site and/or via: sales@pietvijverberg.nl

Product Range

Piet Vijverberg focuses on the production of Phalaenopsis and Dracaena for the high-end users, who value quality and reliability. The grower carries many varieties of Phalaenopsis that are divided into several quality categories: Star Quality By 5 is a brand that produces high quality. The Big 5 Collection is an even higher quality; only the best of the best varieties by variety are included in this collection. Finally, there is the extremely long-lasting White World® Orchid. The Dracaena fragrans collection includes Golden Coast, Yellow Coast, Mass Coast and Steudneri.

They are grown exclusively in various compositions and are very easy to care and handle in daily life due to their insusceptibility to diseases. In addition, they are resistant to sun and shade.

Family business since 1946

The founder of the company is Kees Vijverberg. He started the company in 1946 as a vegetable grower and in 1951 floriculture was added, thereby also becoming a member of the flower auction. Piet Vijverberg joined the family business in 1964, which mainly cultivated lettuce, tomatoes and peppers and later specialized in cut greenery. The first location was on the Van Koppenweg in Naaldwijk and was in use until 1994. Vijverberg started growing house plants in 1984 and has specialized in this; various types of pot plants have been cultivated. The Dracaena was added to the cultivation in 1984.

In 1989 a new location was taken into use, namely on the Van Prooyelaan in Honselersdijk. Sander Vijverberg, son of Piet and grandson of Kees, came on board in 1993. With this, the 3rd generation Vijverberg has become active. In 1994 a location was opened at the Alkemadelaan in Monster (Kwekerij Pagode). The former 20,000 m² bell pepper nursery was then converted into a potted plant nursery. From that moment on, Dracaena, Yuccas, Asparagus, mini coconut palms and a few small “intercrops” were grown here.

The company started growing Phalaenopsis in 1998 and has specialized further in this area. The location on the van Prooyelaan was closed in 2003 and afterwards the nursery on the Alkemadelaan was gradually expanded to 7.6 ha. of which 1 ha. Dracaena and 6.6 ha. Phalaenopsis.

Innovative

The mechanization and technology applied within the company have always been of a high standard. In the modern nursery, the latest techniques are applied using many automated processes. Vijverberg has been involved in many technical improvements and ideas in horticulture.

The post New! Stylish pot Nolan appeared first on Piet Vijverberg.

Anyway, it is summer and hopefully we all enjoyed it very much. Also nice to discover how flexible we can all be in very strange times!

Boost the business! We also saw this in trade; flexibility. Of course we experienced (and sometimes still do) tough times and everything went differently. Nice to see that new initiatives were developed from all angles and creative ways were created to bring as much product as possible to the man/woman. We too did not sit still and used the time to completely renew our promotional material. We developed a promotional kit that gives the business a boost and helps our end customers to attract customers to the shops. Enjoy it, to see how popular this kit is and how many places we have been able to put it in. By the way, you can still use it, so if you are interested, let us know!

An unpleasant situation on which, unfortunately nobody has any influence. It brought us to think about the best ways we could get back controle. We also wanted to concentrate on looking further, to the point our business will be strong again.

Boost the business!

With these thoughts and the question; “What is the best way to help out or chainpartners?” we developed ideas. We realised that a lot of our florists and cash & carry’s didn’t see customers for weeks. They had to refill a complete empty store at once and make sure to attract customers that will have to same old good feeling of purchasing with them. With these tasks, we could help out a little bit.

This is why we developed the Piet Vijverberg promotion boxes. A box filled with the newest promotionmaterial that will help out every cash and carry to start up with a bang. It’s available in Englisch, French, German and Italian. In this box you will find super new posters and postcards in the language of your choosen country with funny quotes. Our popular Go & Show  displays are also part of this promotion box. We recently updated their appareance, so this moveable displays are the perfect way to bring design into your business! Beauty of it, we deliver these displays completely decorated and with plantmaterial. All you have to do, is remove the protectioncover. Interesting for you or your customers? Let us know, we are delighted to tell you  more!
